CEBU CITY, Philippines – Gealon Racing Team (GRT), in collaboration with FTW Athletics, clinched multiple victories at the Go for Gold Criterium Race held on June 30, 2024. The event showcased impressive performances across various categories, highlighting GRT’s dominance in the local cycling scene.
Clyde Deiparine emerged as a standout in the Men Youth Category, securing 2nd place and solidifying his reputation as one of the fastest young cyclists. In the Men 40-Up Category, veteran Ramonito Espinosa delivered a stellar performance to place 3rd, demonstrating his enduring prowess in competitive cycling.
GRT’s excellence continued in the Men 30 to 40 Category, where the team claimed all three top positions. Roy Canonel took the lead, winning 1st place, followed by Espinosa, who doubled his achievements with a 2nd place finish, and Basirgo rounding out the podium.
In the Manager’s Category, GRT Manager Philip Saenz outpaced his competitors, maintaining his champion status with a decisive victory.
Rey Gealon, Manager of GRT, expressed immense pride in the team’s performance, highlighting their competitiveness against other top cyclists from Manila and various parts of the country. “This is a testament to their hard work and determination. They bring pride and glory to Cebu,” Gealon remarked.
He also acknowledged the divine support and strategic guidance provided by the team’s head coach, 1986 Marlboro Tour Champion Rolando “Boy Bugto” Pagnanawon. The successful strategies implemented were crucial in achieving these commendable results.
